How to Get Involved at NC State

A complete guide to finding meaningful, engaging ways to get involved during your college career.

What is involvement, anyways?

At its most basic, involvement is participation in the things happening around you. In college, there are a huge number of ways to get involved, and these opportunities will arrive in formal and informal ways. A fall 2020 first-term survey identified important areas for consideration when thinking about involvement and the overall experience for new students. Some of the areas students identified as important include:

  • Experiencing a sense of belonging–in various settings such as in residence halls, student organizations, and friends groups, and overall at the university
  • Leadership development and opportunities–including opportunities available at NC State while enrolled and through academic colleges
  • Civic engagement and voting–civic participation, registering to vote, and finding information needed
