Application Dates and Deadlines
The application process and timeline can vary depending on which ASB Experience you are applying for. We recommend reviewing the dates and deadlines below for the experience you are most interested in.

Travel Award Application
For every ASB Experience, the ASB Travel Award Application is due on the same day and at the same time as the experience application is. You should submit a new Travel Award Application for each Experience Cycle (academic break). For example, if wanting to apply for both a Fall Break Travel Award and Winter Break Travel Award, you must submit the Travel Award Application twice. Travel Award Applications are reviewed independently from experience applications.
College of Engineering (COE) enhancement fee-paying students* are eligible to receive an Engineering Travel Award for their ASB Experience. No application is needed; Student Leadership and Engagement will work directly with COE to determine eligibility and receive approval. If selected for an ASB Experience and approved for a COE Travel Award, it will be included in your personalized ASB Trip Contract.
* = Eligibility is determined by the College of Engineering, not by Student Leadership and Engagement.
Applying for an ASB can be a competitive process.
ASB Information Sessions
As part of the application process, all applicants are required to attend an ASB Information Session to learn more about the ASB program and our experiences, as well as your time and financial commitments if chosen for an ASB.
Fall and Winter Breaks 2026 Information Sessions
There are five Information Sessions for Fall and Winter Breaks 2026 ASB Experiences. All applicants are required to attend an Information Session.

Spring Break 2027 Information Sessions
Join Student Leadership and Engagement for one of our Alternative Service Break (ASB) information sessions for Spring Break 2027 Experiences. During the sessions, participants will explore the program’s mission, goals and learning objectives, gain a clear understanding of participant expectations and commitments and learn about each ASB experience. Whether you’re ready to apply or are curious about the program, the sessions are a great opportunity to discover how ASB combines service, education and reflection to create meaningful community engagement experiences.
There are seven information sessions for Spring Break 2027 ASB Experiences. All applicants are required to attend an information session. If you applied for a Fall or Winter Break ASB Experience, you must still attend a Spring Break information session.
