Student Employment is a form of involvement! Our office offers a number of hourly student employee positions. We look to hire talented individuals within our office in the areas of civic engagement, leadership, service, and campus engagement.

Job Description: 

The Student Leadership Advocate serves as a peer mentor for the department and supports critical departmental services by managing the Student Leadership and Engagement Center. Responsibilities include:

  • Commit to being a peer-mentor to first-year students in the Rising Leaders Leadership Program
  • Engaging the student body through robust engagement programming and tabling events throughout NC State
  • Facilitating SLE presentations for the NC State Community
  • Managing the SLE departmental email account and organizing mail/lockers
  • Staff the front desk of Student Leadership and Engagement and answer students questions
  • Supporting student organization education and development
  • Welcome and greet visitors to SLE and provide information regarding programming, services, and organizations.
  • Serve on a committee that works towards the mission of Student Leadership and Engagement through programming and presentations
  • Attend required trainings and weekly staff meetings
  • Develop professional relationships with co-workers, participants and guests
  • Assist as needed in all required departmental functions

 Weekly Commitment: 10-20 hours per week

Starting Hourly Pay Rate: $12 per hour

Job Description: The Marketing, Communications, and Design Intern is responsible for designing static creative content–including digital marketing assets for newsletters and social media, digital billboards, website–and print–including flyers, banners, and other documentation. Interns will also create communication plans, meet with professional staff members to discuss marketing strategies, and help run Student Leadership and Engagement social media platforms. Interested applicants must have some experience in Adobe Suite, specifically Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. All interns will operate under department and university brand standards.

Primary Skills: Graphic design, project management, content creation, collaboration, brand compliance

Weekly Commitment: 8-10 hours per week

Starting Hourly Pay Rate: $12 per hour

Job Description: The Service Learning Intern plans and implements opportunities for students to engage in direct service with a local nonprofit partner and participate in a fun local activity 1-2 times a month.

  • Serve as the liaison between NCSU and local nonprofit partners
  • Plan logistics for Mystery Service Saturday including contacting nonprofit, planning post-service activity, planning and leading reflection, driving university van day of event, etc.
  • Serve as a peer-leader day of events cultivating a welcoming and inclusive community for all
  • Assist in marketing of Mystery Service Saturday program 
  • Explore new partnerships and ways to expand the program
  • Seek feedback from constituents when applicable

Weekly Commitment: 2-10 hours per week

Starting Hourly Pay Rate: $12 per hour

We are hiring two interns who will split responsibilities that will support various civic education and engagement programs, leading the Pack the Polls voting education and advocacy group, and assisting with the planning and execution of Active Citizenry Series workshops. This role offers an exciting opportunity to engage in hands-on civic engagement work, build leadership skills, and foster community involvement among undergraduate students. The position is open to all students regardless of major.

Impact Delta Interns will be responsible for:

  • Serve as the student lead for Pack the Polls, a student-led initiative dedicated to increasing voter education and turnout among NC State students
  • Plan and execute events and outreach efforts to promote voter registration and voting participation
  • Plan and execute events and outreach efforts to promote voter registration and voting participation
  • Assist with planning and executing workshops for the Active Citizenry Series
  • Support the promotion and logistical coordination of workshops, including scheduling guest speakers, arranging materials, and assist in creating event advertisements
  • Attend and help facilitate workshops, ensuring student participation and engagement
  • Gather feedback and assess the impact of workshops to improve future programming
  • Exploring new partnerships and ways to expand the program
  • Meeting every other week with advisor to assist in planning and professional development

Weekly Commitment: 2-10 hours per week
