2022 Student Leadership and Engagement Awards and Recognition
Student Leadership and Engagement recognized outstanding leadership of student leaders and organizations both in their service to the university and the community. We are now accepting nominations for multiple awards to recognize these outstanding contributions for the 2021-2022 Academic Year.

Outstanding Student Organization Leader of the Year Award
This award recognizes an outstanding student leader in an organization whether they hold a formal or informal leadership position, that has made a positive impact on a registered or recognized student organization. The nomination for this award should focus solely on the student leader’s efforts of this academic year (Summer 2021 – Spring 2022).
Outstanding Student Organization Collaboration of the Year Award
This award recognizes an outstanding collaboration between a registered student organization and another, or multiple, student organizations (recognized or registered), university department, and/or community organization. The nomination for this award should focus solely on the collaboration that occurred during this academic year (Summer 2021 – Spring 2022).
Outstanding Growth and Development of a Student Organization Award
This award honors and recognizes student organizations that have established goals for improvement, have made intentional efforts to achieve those goals, and have seen positive success within the student organization. The nomination for this award should focus solely on the growth and development of the student organization of this academic year (Summer 2021 – Spring 2022).
Student Leader “Rising Star” Recognition
The Student Leader “Rising Star” recognition, honors students who’ve demonstrated great potential to take on future leadership roles and responsibilities within a student organization. Whether they currently hold formal or informal leadership responsibility, this recognition encourages students to continue to take initiative within their student organization and to grow in their leadership.
Student Organization Influencers at NC State
With over 700 registered student organizations at NC State University, there is no doubt that organizations and its leaders have an influential role in creating a vibrant and thriving community at NC State that promotes student engagement. Student organizations do everything from advocating for equity and justice, promoting community service, organizing e-sports competitions, inspiring cultural exchange, and more! The Student Organization Influencers recognition honors student organizations that have had significant impact on the NC State experience.
Outstanding Student Organization Advisors
Student organizations often benefit from amazing faculty, staff, or non-university affiliates advising student leaders and members. While advisors are not required for a student organization to register at NC State, they often provide mentorship, coaching, guidance, and the challenge and support that help student organizations thrive and grow. We are excited to recognize the many student organization advisors that enhance the student experience at NC State.
The Deborah S. Moore Service Awards are a collective memorial recognizing exemplary service by NC State students and organizations. Deborah S. Moore, a graduate of NC State, served as the first volunteer coordinator of the NC State Student Center. She made many contributions to society, including volunteer work, teaching English to retired Spanish-speaking people, and working with people with disabilities as well as those from under-resourced communities. The memorial was created in the spring of 1977.
Civic and Community Engagement Student Leader of the Year
This award recognizes a student leader, whether holding a formal or informal leadership role, who has led and contributed in the areas of civic and community engagement through service, advocacy, philanthropy, or community based research that has contributed to a more equitable and just world for all people. Nominees may be any student at NC State University. The nomination for this award should focus solely on the student’s efforts of this academic year (Summer 2021 – Spring 2022).
Outstanding Civic and Community Impact of the Year by a Student Organization
This award recognizes a registered student organization that has created positive change in the community through their efforts of service, advocacy, philanthropy, or community based researched that has contributed to a more equitable and just world for all people. The nomination for this award should focus solely on the student organization’s impact of this academic year (Summer 2021 – Spring 2022).
